Decided to try taking a time-lapse of me (and my awful awesome work shirt) taking apart a little Yamaha PW50.
Shot 1 frame every 2 seconds. Probably need to go down to 1:1 to alleviate some of the jumpiness.
I must say, the little PW50 is a brilliant design. So many instances of “Wow, that’s really cool!” when taking it apart.
For example, the entire drivetrain is rigid and pivots at the motor mounts to allow the rear suspension to work. And the rear brake is integral to the rear wheel. And the drive shaft has a spring to prevent shocks from the rigid design reaching the engine. All very clever, and incredibly easy to take apart. All you need to do to remove the engine is unbolt the shocks and header and then unbolt one motor mount and the whole engine/driveshaft/rear wheel assembly slides out.
Hopefully next time we take apart a full-size bike I can do another.
